I am honoured to serve as your County Councillor for Ribble Valley NE, now serving a second term after crossing the floor from the Conservatives to Reform UK. I made this decision because I believed the country we love was entering a political crisis, and I wanted to take a stand — including supporting Nigel Farage in his efforts to lead change.
I have been a councillor for 15 years, with 12 years on Ribble Valley Borough Council and 5 years on Lancashire County Council. I have worked closely with Stephen Atkinson, Leader of Lancashire County Council, and I am enormously proud of his statesmanlike leadership, demonstrating competence and professionalism from the start.
As Cabinet Member for Finance, my role is to support my colleagues by forensically analysing their portfolios to ensure we understand how money has been spent — and often wasted — over the last 15 years. I work closely with my Cabinet colleague David Dwyer, who holds the Efficiency Portfolio.
As a former Chief Data Officer of the NWDA, whose team received a national award for Best Use of Data in the Public Sector, I bring a full skill set to this role, along with my experience as an academic specialising in Local Government Finance, Structures, Institutions, and Democratic Processes.
I also actively campaign on a number of local issues, including flooding, road safety, and policing, working to make Ribble Valley a safer and better-served community.
