I had the privilege of laying wreaths in both Wesham and Kirkham to mark Remembrance Sunday, joining local residents, veterans, service families and community groups in paying our respects.
Remembrance Sunday is a moment for all of us to pause and reflect on the courage, duty and sacrifice of those who gave everything in the service of our country. It is also a time to recognise the men and women who continue to serve today, often quietly and without recognition, putting others before themselves.

Coming together as communities on occasions like this matters. It ensures that the values so many fought to defend — duty, resilience and selflessness — are not just remembered but carried forward. It is through remembrance, education and shared respect that we pass these values on to future generations.
I am grateful to the organisers, volunteers and veterans’ groups in both Wesham and Kirkham who helped make these commemorations so meaningful, and to everyone who took the time to attend and show their support.
Their service, past and present, must never be forgotten.
Lest we forget.
