Chanukah: Reform Lancashire Stands for Peace, Unity and Community

Reform councillors at Lancashire County Council joined members of the Jewish community to mark Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, sending a clear and united message of peace, cohesion and community unity.

The event brought together councillors, community leaders and residents at a time when solidarity and understanding matter more than ever. Chanukah’s message — light overcoming darkness — resonated strongly throughout the evening.

Rabbi Danny Bergson of St Anne’s Hebrew Congregation delivered a passionate and thoughtful address, speaking powerfully about harmony, mutual respect and the importance of standing together across communities. His words were echoed by Reform Deputy Leader Simon Evans, who reinforced the need for unity, dialogue and shared values, particularly during challenging times.

Light over darkness. Always.
