Reform Lancashire is pleased to announce the appointment of Councillor Ella Worthington as Cabinet Member for Civic Pride, effective immediately.
Elected in May 2025, Ella represents the Skelmersdale West ward in West Lancashire and has quickly established herself as a dedicated and hard-working advocate for her community.
Civic pride is the positive feeling people have about their local community, town, or city. It is the sense of shared responsibility and collective identity that encourages residents to care for, improve and celebrate the place they live.
Reform Lancashire’s vision is to transform Lancashire into a county where every resident feels connected, valued and proud of their community.
The Civic Pride agenda will be driven by four key pillars:
- Caring for the local environment
- Increasing community involvement
- Building trust and engagement with local institutions
- Celebrating Lancashire’s unique local identity

In response to her appointment, Councillor Worthington said:
“This role of Cabinet Member for Civic Pride is amazing and I feel honoured to have been given this responsibility. This is an exciting initiative that will make a difference in our communities that I’m passionate about. I am here to serve and will give it 100%. I welcome everybody’s input on how we can drive this forward.”
She added:
“This is about real connection, championing our communities and businesses, celebrating Lancashire’s heritage and reinforcing that the council and our residents are one and the same.”
Leader Stephen Atkinson welcomed the appointment, saying:
“We are proud to build on the momentum of our Civic Pride agenda. After the success of last year’s motion at Full Council and strong recognition in the recent Peer Review, we’re elevating this into a dedicated Cabinet role. I’m delighted to have Ella on board to deliver this initiative. She works incredibly hard and is passionate about delivering for our communities across Lancashire.”
He added:
“This role is about evolving and adapting the portfolio to meet the needs of our communities with common sense and fairness.”
This appointment reflects Reform Lancashire’s continued commitment to strengthening communities, empowering residents and putting civic pride at the heart of local government
