I’m proud to serve as the County Councillor for Skelmersdale West — working with local people, fixing real problems and fighting to strengthen frontline services. I entered politics to challenge the status quo, deliver genuine change and make sure residents have a strong voice in decision-making.
Originally from Cambridgeshire, I now live in Lancashire with my family and our two much-loved dogs, Coco and Skyler. After eight years in the United States working as a business consultant, I returned to the UK to train as a journalist, later helping to expose miscarriages of justice on national television.
Alongside my role as a councillor, I run a home-based business supporting people through the cost-of-living crisis and helping them build long-term financial resilience.
My priorities for Skelmersdale are:
• Restoring civic pride
• Cleaner and better-maintained public spaces
• Improved roads and a reduction in potholes
• Standing up for residents
• Stronger frontline services and a safer, more connected community

Reform-led Lancashire County Council has introduced a clear and consistent flag policy for civic buildings, focusing on shared national and county identity

Reform-led Lancashire County Council is developing a Civic Pride Action Plan to celebrate the county’s heritage, recognise community contributions and encourage participation from residents, schools and local groups.

County Councillor Ella Worthington visited the school to plant a tree as part of the Live Simply Project. The initiative has already seen 200 trees planted, generously funded by the Woodland Trust.

We want our Civic Pride back! Clean streets, flying our flags, to celebrating our heritage, to clean public spaces, to zero weeds, well maintained areas and more! An area we can be proud of!

Council tax in Lancashire will only rise by 3.8% this year, including a 2% social care precept, this remains one of the lowest increases in the country.

CC Ella Worthington was recently contacted by West Lancs ARK to ask if she could help a homeless man called Ken* in Skelmersdale. For months, he had been sleeping under a subway, exposed to freezing temperatures, isolation and constant danger.
